Collaboration Tools and AI Could Provide a Comeback Boost for Construction

For the past two months, hundreds and thousands of companies and firms across different industries and sectors debated digitization and remote work. Since then, remote work has become a routine for thousands of workers across the globe. Some industries could “easily” shift from working in their companies’ offices to working remotely. However, the industry of construction was faced with heavier delays, especially as some construction segments can’t be done remotely. However, as construction sites are being reopened, AI and collaboration tools emerge as come back tools for construction and construction labor.

AI and Collaboration Can Encourage a Faster Return of Construction

The industry y of construction cannot function properly and in entirety from remote work – construction workers cannot build or assemble construction pieces remotely and outside of construction sites. However, after two months of slowed down construction activity, the industry is getting back on its feet. The 11 trillion dollars-worth sectors are essential to the economy which is why there has to be a balance between the safety of labor and productive construction activity. Artificial Intelligence and collaboration tools can partially boost a comeback of construction workers. AI and collaboration tools are already being used in the industry, introducing construction to a digital era alongside boosting efficiency.

The Use of AI in Construction

AI is already being integrated across different construction sites and companies in the US. While some companies use AI for virtual tours and monitoring paired with cameras and surveillance, other contractors are using AI in combination with wearables for increased safety. Collecting field notes and data, improving safety on job sites and monitoring are only some of the purposes of AI in construction.

The Use of Collaboration Tools in Construction

Video conferencing tools are some of the most commonly used collaboration tools in construction alongside BIM. These tools have proven to increase efficiency in communication and the sharing of crucial data and information between numerous construction teams in a heavily fragmented industry.
