Ways Contractors Are Using Tech to Adapt to New Circumstances

To remove a halt from construction projects across the US, the officials are coming up with guidelines in the prevention of spreading COVID-19. Construction companies and contractors are turning to tech-based solutions for integrating social distancing. In the meantime, numerous teams in construction are relying on technology solutions to enable virtual meetings, as well as jobsite inspections and monitoring. Here is how contractors are using tech to adapt to new circumstances.

    Software for Social Distancing Integration

Social distancing is one of the main preventive measures against the spreading of COVID-19. Contractors and construction companies are trying to implement effective and efficient monitoring programs to assure that these measures are respected on construction sites. Software companies are already launching tech safety nets that are designed using image-capture data technology or GPS sensors. Software developers say that these programs are designed to alert contractors and project managers in case social distancing norms are not respected.

    Video Inspections for Building Officials

To reduce the risk of spreading the virus or getting infected, building officials dealing with construction site inspections are relying on technology solutions. Building inspectors are conducting thorough inspections of construction sites via video technology which diminishes the need for being physically present in the process.

Virtual Meetings for Public Project Discussions

Construction and engineering firm, AECOM, launched a tool that enables the firm to hold virtual meetings for public project discussions. The tool is interactive and was created to address the requirements of social distancing guidelines. The tool created and used by AECOM allows following up with the process of building projects such as concert venues and stadiums.

AI-based App Tracking US Construction Activity

OxBlue Activity Index enables real-time tracking of the US construction activity. Users can use this AI-based application to gain insights into the most and the least affected areas in the US and the status of construction projects in these areas.
