How Construction Companies Are Operating During COVID-19?

COVID-19 drove many businesses to a general shutdown as the pandemics are bringing all non-essential businesses to a halt. Deemed as essential, the construction industry is holding on, although faced with many challenges. As the executive vice president of one of the leading construction firms, Skanska, claims, construction companies are doing their best to keep the workers safe during COVID-19.

Best Practices Against COVID-19: Construction Companies

Social distancing is one of the essential measures and practices in the fight against COVID-19. In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemics, construction companies are changing ways of managing projects. Conferences are delayed and smaller groups of workers are operating on the job sites. Some companies are expanding the network to adjust to online collaboration and stay-at-home work. By practicing social distancing, construction companies are preventing the spreading of COVID-19.

Enhanced Hygiene on the Construction Jobsites

All construction companies are enhancing hygiene by installing handwashing stations and providing disinfection and cleaning supplies for all workers on the site. Construction workers are urged to clean and disinfect commonly used tools that are being shared on the site. To remind the workers on the importance of these measures, guidelines are posted on multiple locations on construction sites.

Managing Teams in Construction During COVID-19

Many construction companies have compiled teams that are set to manage construction sites in the sense of monitoring the efficacy of preventive measures. These teams are supporting construction workers through valuable information and management.

Traveling to CDC 3-Level Countries Not Allowed

To prevent the virus from spreading, construction companies are urging their workers not to travel to CDC 3-level countries. That means that any worker traveling to countries with widespread COVID-19 is not allowed to get back to construction sites. That way, contact with potentially infected workers is completely diminished.
