As a response to the outbreak of COVID-19 across the globe, the officials are coming up with guidelines on protection against the virus. Construction sites and all the teams involved in active construction projects need to follow with the CDC guidelines in the US as well. These guidelines include the measures of social distancing. The importance of following the prescribed guidelines is seen in preserving public health as well as keeping construction running as an essential business it represents.

Software Companies Come Up with Social Distance Measuring Tools
To respond to the demand seen in construction in terms of monitoring social distancing in practice on construction sites, software companies are coming up with tools to measure social distancing. Some companies are updating existing monitoring programs, while other software developers are focused on creating special tools. Genda Tech, an Israel-based company, for example, is expanding its business to the US, offering location tracking to assure that social distancing is practiced on construction sites. What is interesting is that the software made by Genda Tech enables customized monitoring so contractors can set the number of workers allowed in a single room for example. All of these programs created by different companies such as Smartvid.io and Kwant.ai are designed to send real-time notifications when the social distancing norm is not practices in some manner.
Technology as a Remedy in Construction
Construction is notoriously slow in technology adoption, however, with the accelerated use of tech due to special circumstances, the overall adoption rate could significantly increase in the sector of construction. Monitoring, safety on construction sites, and productivity are all being improved and enhanced with accelerated use of tech in construction. Digitization and the use of specialized software for all stages of construction are already on the rise with additional measures against the spreading of COVID-19.
