How is 5G Going to Affect the Industry of Construction?

Based on the connectivity potential of 5G networks, 5G is likely to leave a great impact on construction. In general, connectivity of the 5G network in relation to IoT are said to change the entire process of construction. This impact would also include the way construction offices and clients are cooperating. Moreover, the impact would bring changes to the communication of data and images and building infrastructure as a consequence.

5G to Leave a Major Impact on Construction Processes through IoT

The Internet of Things is inevitably the future of connectivity. Effectively merging devices through the interconnection of multiple machines and appliances, the Internet of Things is the future of sharing data and information. At the same time, 5G is the key to enabling fast information sharing through the Internet of Things. With the impending evolution of connectivity through 5G, construction is set to improve in efficiency as well. Low latency of 5G means that there is little to no delay in communication between devices. Over the last several years, construction has already advanced due to improvements in materials which resulted in smart buildings and eco-friendly construction. Wireless data technology in combination with technology and collaborative software such as BIM. 5G might be the next big leap for construction.

5G to Advance the Revolution of Robotics and Automation

5G also has the potential to improve automation and make the use of robotics in construction more efficient. Thanks to its latency in connectivity, 5G would enable uninterrupted real-time video quality. Besides, 5G should allow more efficient use of robotics by improving automation and response of tele-remote equipment. This case would improve the overall safety and efficiency in construction as a result. Robots and drones could be used through the process of automation and IoT to reach places where human intervention is needed, that way cutting the time needed to complete some tasks on construction sites and improving overall safety.
