As the city of New York decided to place a ban on all non-essential construction work due to the increasing number of Coronavirus infections, many construction businesses are trying to meet the requirements for the exempt. Construction businesses in which projects are deemed as non-essential will have to wait at least until the end of April to continue with work. That is how construction businesses are eager to resume their projects as soon as possible.

Construction in New York City is Moving Forward: Essential or Non-essential?
The city of New York first announced that all construction projects should be deemed essential even in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. Only weeks later by the end of March, New York City officials decided to ban some of the projects in construction while the crisis is on. Essential construction would be allowed to continue. Essential construction includes emergency repairs, maintenance, and projects such as the construction of homeless shelters and hospitals. The New York City Department of Buildings has released the map that shows where the essential construction projects in the city are operating. The map came with a warning that all non-essential construction should be fined up to 10,000$.
Construction Industry in New York City: Builders and Contractors Complaining About the New Rules
It appears that the regulative on prohibiting non-essential construction work has given a huge blow to the construction business. Only one day after the new measures of preventive were announced, the Department of Buildings received nearly 1,000 complaints in a single day. Some construction businesses are complaining that not everyone is treated equally with the new ruling. Some of these business representatives are citing that keeping safety precautions against the COVID-19 should be enough to keep the construction industry rolling without shutting down projects that are said to be non-essential.
