The Booming Construction Placed on Hold in Seattle

Jay Inslee, Washington Governor, have placed all construction projects on hold in the state of Washington, in an attempt to prevent the spreading of the Coronavirus. Pandemics arrived in the US weeks ago soon after which the majority of non-essential businesses were closed. As additional measures of precaution, some states, cities, and areas are placing construction projects on hold. Only urgent repairs and modifications, as well as construction work on public buildings and hospitals, is allowed.

Seattle’s Construction Projects on Delay Amidst COVID-19 Crisis

For the next two weeks, all non-essential construction projects, which include commercial and residential construction sites, will be placed on hold while the construction sites will remain closed during that time. The new measures were brought by Washington’s Governor to prevent the spearing of the virus.

Seattle is Counting Over 1,500 COVID-19 Cases

The situation is getting serious in Seattle as well as in the US. Over 100 people have died due to COVID-19 infection with more than 1,500 cases of the infection recorded in Seattle alone. The number represents 50% of the number of infected people in Washington, which means that the spreading needed to be stopped with new measures. The new measures are taking a toll on the construction industry that was previously booming in Seattle.

Some Construction Projects Will Continue in Seattle

Construction companies working on publicly funded affordable housing and urgent maintenance construction projects will be able to continue with their work as exempt to the new measures. There is a great possibility that the latest halt placed on the construction industry will affect many people, as well as the economy on a deeper level than it is expected. Likewise, the newest prevention measures are viewed upon by contractors as more serious and restrictive than expected. At the same time, Seattle is one of the busiest cities in the US when it comes to active construction projects. That is how it becomes more likely that the city’s residents will be affected by the latest measures.
